I Needed To Lose Him

So I could realize I never ever had him

Didn’t even need that slot filled

I can fill it myself!

Mommy hit me with a belt

So I accept treatment as such

She hit me but I learned this much:

I can walk away, I can start over, I can change

Now is no different

I needed to lose him

He showed me that he is not important

He showed me that I am strong and I can choose myself!

I choose myself!

Each and every time

& someone else will choose me in time…

But, not now

For now, I’m focused on success

Only creating the best

Speaking with & from my chest

I needed to lose him

He wasn’t mine

None of them are

I needed a reminder

I release him, then released him

I am my fathers daughter

But I am not him

This I must know

So when I think I’ll steadfast through torture

I’ll instead, say no

I needed to lose him

Use him?

No—it’s a loss

A big one at that

That’s how I know that what I gain back

Will be plenty

Will be full

Will be thorough

This alone

This I must know
